Ill Met By Moonlight

For nearly a year and a half Vilkas has been the model of self-control. He does not hunt. He does not feed. He does not dare acknowledge the feral beast that dwells within because he knows that once that beast has been released it cannot be contained.

While tending to business for the Companions in Falkreath, a town embroiled in misery and depression, a young father speaks to him in the Dead Man’s Drink about the beast that murdered his daughter. Vilkas cannot resist the self-righteous urge to stand before this beast and judge him for his lack of self-control.

But Sinding is more than just a man who shares Vilkas’s beastly curse. He is being punished by the Daedric Lord Hircine himself and his crime of thievery has been castigated in ways no man or beast should ever have to suffer. He can no longer control his transformations and now an innocent little girl has fallen to the beast.

When offered the opportunity to clear the slate between Sinding and Hircine, Vilkas accepts the task to return the cursed ring to its owner, believing this rare opportunity to confront Hircine himself could provide the Companions with a solution to their own curse. It will mean giving in to the beast he has denied, an angry, snarling vengeful monster that will not so easily be returned to the prison of his body when all is said and done.

    I did that quest on Athalia yesterday, the ring made her become a werewolf randomly in the middle of Morthal. ;_;
    Serana and Lydia helped her get away though, it was touching in a way. xD

    Sounds intriguing! I always wondered if Vilkas would ever give in to or lose control of his beast again before being cured, and with the Bereft chapters, I can only imagine what might happen when he does. Looking forward to it!

    Ehehehe, in Tigrine’s game the ring didn’t toy with her at all, but in Nekane’s either it was in the woods or I wanted to go beast mode, and now the ring is unequipped and I still need to do the quest.

      Opting for beast mode in purpose always unequips the ring, and since I play as a full-fledged beast until curing Kodlak with all my characters who’ve done the Companions questline I’ve never actually wolfed out without wanting to. It kind of sucks because I’d love to have it happen against my “will,” so to speak.

    I was honestly thinking the other day about what it would be like if you wrote a story based on this quest! Spooky! Anyway, I’ve been a silent reader for a long time and I just love all of your work. I’m super excited to see where this goes!

    Gahhhh when’s the next chapter? I’d love to see a side story of when she’s pregnant with Farkas’s child! I feel like those nine months would be adorable.

    Here it only has 12 chapters listed above, but I read up to 17. I don’t know if my computer is glitching or if you just added them later without putting them on this screen, but I can’t remember if there are any more after this. I’ve been wanting to reread the chapters from Farkas’ point of view when Luthien and him have children but I can’t remember where they are, could you tell me what they’re called? Thanks!
